Dedicated to Julie Ladd

Fearless and Female is dedicated to my childhood friend and next door neighbor since first grade, Julie Ladd. The summer after our freshman year at Wichita State University, Julie was murdered in the basement of her college dormitory. To read more about Julie, please go to

This past weekend, I found this photo of Julie and myself all dressed up for a school program. It was "Grandparents Day" at school and we were starring in the 2nd grade program. I am on the left and Julie on the right. We were standing in my front yard and you can see the grey brick wall of Julies house behind us. I can remember the morning that this picture was taken just like it was yesterday. Such happy times. I will always remember that beautiful smile!
